Google MapsI was incredibly disappointed in the lack of care my Oma experienced. Only one of the nurses was kind towards her and called her by the correct name. Everything from the food to the toileting routine was horrible. I do not recommend.

Google MapsI looked at 17 different nursing homes before I found MACS (now Cultura) for my dad, who has dementia & is in high care.. I like the way the organisation caters to individual needs, unlike most. Dad was allowed to water the garden so he could feel like he was on his farm.. this allowed, my dad to keep this dignity and feel useful. The staff in the dementia ward are absolutely amazing.. of course every nursing home could do with more staff, especially when a few residents need tending to at the same time, however, I do feel this place is much better staffed than other homes, and the staff are all lovely and treat the residents with care

Google MapsMy mother had a poor experience here, as did our family as a customer. Staff and management misrepresented their capability in caring for residents with Alzheimers prior to her moving in, insisting they understood the condition and were capable of supporting her accordingly - at least while she still had relative freedom of movement. It quickly became apparent that was not the case. I was constantly contacted by staff who had no idea how to deal with the most common and basic of Alzheimers behaviours - though I'm not a trained specialist in this area, it fell to me to educate them on the basics, and to offer strategies and treatment recommendations. I don't necessarily fault the staff for this - generally they were trying their best and were likely unsupported - but I certainly fault management. Mum was deeply unhappy. She was socially isolated by staff (made to sit on her own or excluded from activities) and her needs were often unmet. Her robotic cat (which calmed her) was taken away from her as discipline - creating mental distress and exacerbating symptoms. The facility was routinely understaffed and resourced, despite considerably high fees and non-refundable deposits. Meals were quite poor on the occasions I witnessed them. Though they knew she was unable to spend money on her own due to her condition, they let her run up debts we then had to pay, buying good or services on premises or on activities. My family and I were made to feel an inconvenience, and never felt supported. I was extremely frustrated at the amount of time and money wasted - but more so, saddened at the poor experience Mum endured for nearly two years. Eventually I was able to secure Mum a place in a nearby facility that genuinely caters to Alzheimers residents, and she is doing brilliantly - settled and happy for the long term. The staff there are superb. Now that I've seen the benchmark, this experience is even more underwhelming.
