Google MapsI recently had a total hip replacement at Shellharbour Private Hospital, the reason I rated the hospital 3/5 is because the food that was provided was sub standard compared to the other 2 private hospitals in the Illawarra. Nursing staff were wonderful as are the rehab staff. But the meals were in my opinion no better than the public hospital and considering the amount paid by your health fund management need to address the situation. The food was non appetising and unappealing. The desserts were Sara Lee and even the jellies and rice puddings were the type you buy in supermarkets full of preservatives. Nothing was home made and as a person who had extensive experience in catering I know what I am talking about. My other complaint was the amount of plastic that was present on the meal trays in one day it was an average of 17 pieces of non biodegradable plastic and multiplied by the number of rooms the amount of plastics used by your kitchen that contributes to landfill amounts to 300,000 in 1 year, all I can say is perhaps your chef needs to visit Figtree Private and Wollongong Private hospitals for lessons in cooking. I did take photos of the food and plastics used.
