Google MapsI have attended this place a number of times recently and the staff are great! Super friendly and there’s never been any awkwardness or made to feel uncomfortable about the reason I was attending. They answer any questions asked and are really good at distracting you when needed. I would mention is that one nurse was a bit more relaxed when taking blood. I have had my blood taken three times, the first two times with one nurse, who was great! I could hardly feel the needle and there was no pain or bruising after. She asked me to straighten my arm, make a fist, and then relax just as she inserted the needle. 10/10 for her! The last time I got blood taken was with another nurse and it hurt, to put it bluntly. She was lovely and really nice to talk to although when taking blood it felt like she didn’t think about how it would feel for me. This was done when my arm was slightly bent and there was no prep to get my vein ready. It felt more like a stab when the needle was inserted and I could feel my body jump from it. My arm is quite painful to stretch out straight and I have a feeling it will bruise as time passes. At the end of my appointment I did feel a little pressured to go on to contraception even though I reiterated a number of times I didn’t want to as I don’t find it suitable for my body. I understand they are just doing their job but I did feel like when we were speaking about it, they weren’t fully taken on my feelings on it and I think it was obvious I was certain. The procedure only takes a couple of seconds so this experience wouldn’t put me off, but I feel like SHQ would benefit from knowing this. All feedback is beneficial I think! I hope this doesn’t put anyone off either as I think the environment is really warm and supportive and I would recommend to go here!
