My partner needed an urgent referral transferred through to his gp after injuring himself and ending up in the hospital there the day before. They said they could and would send it straight through as he needed it for an appointment he had booked for the afternoon. Nearly 4 hours later and it still wasn’t received so he called back just to ask for an update and the lady in outpatients reception was a different lady to the first and she was extremely rude to him. I understand some days may be really busy and that things can take time but he only asked for an update so he could figure out if he needed to cancel his appointment. I hope that in future you do better and treat people with the same respect that you expect from your patients.
I came into St. Vincent’s via Taxi as there were no ambulances available. I was in a tremendous amount of pain in my stomach and body, pupils dilated and shaking from head to toe. The receptionist with grey hair, I think she was called Heather at the front desk was very cold and refrained from asking questions about my symptoms. She took my blood pressure, and basically told me to calm down because my pressure was high. I had shortness in breath, I was struggling to breathe. I was then referred to the receptionist next to her who was kinder and took me a little bit more seriously. I waited 2hrs to be seen by someone and was administered a painkiller and anti nausea. At this point, I was incredibly worried and no one was able to see to me, so I decided to leave via Uber to go to Urgent Care in Richmond. Long story short, I had signs of poisoning and could have lost my life. I understand how incredibly busy and how hard it can be for hospital staff, and I can empathise with what they have to deal with on a daily basis, but this was next level negligence.
I had a very difficult experience at the emergency department. I waited for more than 5 hours in severe pain, with numbness on my right side and difficulty walking. During that time, I saw patients who arrived after me being taken in first. When I asked the receptionist, I was told I was at the top of the line, but an hour later they said there were still more patients ahead. It was extremely hard to wait so long while being in such pain, and I felt overlooked and helpless. I hope the hospital can improve communication and care for patients in situations like this.

I just had day surgery today, a knee arthroscopy, and from admissions, to pre surgery, to anaesthetics, to surgeon, to recovery.... These people are absolutely beautiful. It was my first surgery and I was really anxious and nervous. Everyone could not have been more friendly and comforting. Made my day! Thankyou so much everyone 😊😊
