The best in neurology rehabilitation services. Joined the clinic over a year ago and I've seen over a 25% improvement in my mobility. Sarah Sargent (one of the physio's) is so experienced and tailors your sessions based on your disability and what you hope to achieve in a challenging and rewarding environment. I would highly recommend Arc to anyone who requires rehabilitation services from mobility or cognitive issues that arise from a neurological condition (be it from a stroke, MS or Parkinson's).
I have attended ARC twice a week since having a stroke in April 2021. The centre has been amazing in helping me to walk again and regain some independence. Anna Biddiscombe has been my main physiotherapist and has been incredibly supportive and helped to make this journey a little bit easier. I will be forever grateful for her input and encouragement. However, it is now time to move on to the next phase of my journey and as I begin to return to work we need something a little closer to home. I will always be thankful and remember the support my friends at ARC gave me Alison, Becky and Anna.
Don't waste your time. The website shows high-tech state of the art facilities and has lots of references to helping clients and meeting client goals, however sadly that was not my experience, I got the complete opposite. Firstly you will wait months to get seen, then you won't be seen by the most appropriate or experienced person for your needs or disability, you will be seen by whoever has availability in their calendar. I specifically attended ARC for assistance with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) which causes balance, gait, and walking issues, involuntary tremor and brain and cognition issues and deficits. However after 6 months of attending ARC I am actually worse than when I started there. I am very disappointed that according to ARCs website they have numerous and extensive resources and highly skilled staff to assist with FND, yet when you go there you do not get that assistance. The people I saw would not give me a clear plan of what our goals would be or how they would achieve them, instead I got told we'll take it one appointment at a time, which did not work at all. My goal was to be able to walk properly without walking into walls, tripping, losing balance, and to retrain my brain to talk to my legs and feet so I could just walk properly. Instead I was doing activities like I was training for the next Rocky movie, push-ups, running, kicking a soccer ball, doing leg presses being told my goal is to leg press twice my body weight, this was their goal, not mine, and none of this helped me achieve my goal of walking properly, I am still walking into walls, have gait, balance and walking issues and now have increased knee pain which was slight when I started at ARC yet is excruciating now. I also had the goal of working out the cognition issues and deficits in my brain functioning from FND. A number of 'observations ' were made about how my brain works and doesn't work, yet nothing implemented to assist me with the issues I experience on a daily basis. For example, I can't follow instructions, I struggle with something as simple as the instructions on a microwave meal. ARCs answer to this was write out they wrote out instructions to one microwave meal, spaced out the lettering to make it easier to read, printed it and told me 'I can now following instructions', this is ridiculous and insulting. I had high hopes for some real help and assistance from ARC, especially given their hype on their own website, yet you will not get any of that help and assistance, it's just marketing hype. You will also get gaslighted into being recommended to other services so they can exit you without actually helping you. I did not want to go to the services they recommended as they had not helped me or worked for me in the past. I was not given an alternative, either go to those services or they weren't seeing me anymore until I go. My experience is they don't listen to you, you will not feel heard, you will feel like a 5 year old child being told what to do, your goals won't come into, only theirs, you will not only come away with no improvement you'll feel totally disillusioned that you were promised help and assistance yet got nothing. My recommendation is don't waste your time or money. I found more useful and helpful videos on FND online that are far more useful than ARC. I'm deeply disappointed and frustrated by my experience and treatment at ARC and they have essentially put me in the too hard basket to actually assist, so now I get to try to manage my FND symptoms myself because a state of the art facility like ARC did not deliver on their promises nor do anything listed on their website. And just as a side note a staff member having 'an interest' in FND is not the same as them having 'experience' and 'qualifications' in FND, and you will see this stark reality if you go to ARC. And while I'm sure there may be some staff at ARC who may be experienced or qualified, you won't get to see them as they're fully booked and you get what's left, which won't help you at all, and may even make you worse like in my case.
