Harry Pearsall
Google MapsHarry was diagnosed in 2019, was granted an NDIS support package, and has worked with other teams (such as HCA and Mabel ), who more ‘baby-sat’ him and were not so committed to increasing Harry’s level of daily happiness. Harry now thrives because of the loving close committed friendships he now enjoys with each of the individual members of Team Amigo. They each have special talents and skills to teach Harry. For instance: as Harry has lost speech, David (physiotherapist trained) teaches him Auslan sign language; Richard also a Physiotherapist and Respiratory Physiotherapist helps with specific exercises to manage choking or breathing episodes as well as sports injury; Dr Rene has been invaluable in assessing and management of medical or aggravated skin conditions; Manuel a kind and gentle Earth angel, prays with and sings to Harry, etc. Julian facilitates and co-ordinates Rostering of the Carers and organizes any ‘away’ activities and is tireless in improving Harry’s quality of life. We ‘won the Lottery’ when Team Amigo came into our lives! Harry has enjoyed attendance at the Races at Royal Randwick. He has enjoyed the freedom and weightlessness of in-door skydiving, has been able to visit his sisters (one of whom now has Dementia) in QLD with an entourage of three rotating carers. Harry’s Neurologist, thinks Harry has ‘bucked the trend’ and slowed down the rate of his progression, with compliments to the level of care he enjoys, his own hard work and his obvious enjoyment of life. So thank you Team Amigo for the compassionate, loving commitment to enhancing Harry’s quality of life on a daily basis. Each team member goes out of his way to create an adventure for Harry every day. Harry has a supreme work ethic in the gym. He regularly expends the energy equivalent of a Peloton lead-out rider in the Tour de France. On a stationary bike his regular sessions include a 45-min workout on a heavy gear with up-hill gradient that leaves his carers in amazement. That is just the beginning, his core strength and arm and leg strength are the result of weights and resistance training workouts where Harry consistently moves the bar by increasing the weights. Nevertheless his ability to co-ordinate the muscles in his legs and his mouth muscle groups is diminishing, so that he walks with a slow and stuttering motion on parallel bar guides with dual support workers, and has now lost the power of speech completely. He currently has diminished swallowing capacity. We are all in awe of Harry’s optimism and courage, his glass is always ‘half-full’. Harry’s freedom to compete with himself and pursue his Personal Best in every activity is enabled by the commitment of his highly skilled and professional Team Amigo members who work with and support Harry every moment of his busy day. God Bless Julian and Gio who started Team Amigo. They offer a flexible and individually tailored service, lovingly delivered. We unreservedly recommend their services.
