Google MapsA higher standard of cultural awareness/ cultural sensitivity training is required for the staff at this company. In the incident I was involved in, a supervisory staff member made insensitive comments regarding the race and religious beliefs of clients, and that supervisory staff member refused to back down and apologise when she saw that I was uncomfortable with the direction of the conversation. The support workers who witnessed the interaction also declined to intervene and correct the offending staff member. One star is too high, in my opinion. If I could give this company zero stars then I would. (I have edited my post to provide more context. I am sure Big Dog employees who are reading this post know exactly what incident I am referring to, and I am not referring to newsletter content.) I stand by my previous remarks. Your Operations Manager at the time the incident occurred admitted via email correspondence that this incident was regrettable and she stated that she would ensure that more training and understanding is provided to Big Dog employees in this area. Thus, she admitted that this incident I reported had exposed a deficit in whatever sensitivity training was previously provided to employees. You can deny that the comments made by the supervisory staff member were racist if that helps you validate yourself but you cannot deny that the comments were insensitive, out of order and utterly unbecoming of a disability services worker.
