Google MapsBEWARE from my experience of having a very known problem of a corn, to be such. A Doctor must "declare" this and to refer you to a Podiatrist. Otherwise you will receive no medicare benefit IF you are deemed eligible. I had seen a Doctor prior but was not advised or offered a referral. Apparently the Podiatrist cant advise you re the referral as you may or may not be eligible for a benefit by medicare. Should medicare provide a benefit you cant also claim private insurance apparently. Although I mentioned I was an aged pensioner when I enquired with this practice as I was concerned about the $100 charge. I ended up paying the whole amount. Doctors no longer do this service but charge a consultation fee charged to medicare who then are charge again by the Podiatrist. My time in waiting rooms and travel costs dont matter or taxpayers money. It appears that medical practitioners and specialists dont "discuss" these double or triple costs with the Government or care to "steamline" the system. Our medical benefits in Australia are not free and should not be abused. I have no problems with my 15 minute simple treatment at this practice just had not expected to pay for it in full despite my time spent prior to it and not being able to be properly informed.
