Icon The Cookery School

We had a private group and we did the Thai cooking class with chef Kevin. We we’re celebrating a 60th birthday, we had a fabulous day. Kevin and his assistant were fantastic and so accommodating for our group. We loved it so much we’re planning to go back. I highly recommend Icon Cookery, give it a go you’ll love it.

We booked the vegetarian session hoping to make veggies a bit more sexy. It all felt short of our expectations. We didn’t learn much apart from chopping. We arrived and the chef could not find any knives and wasted time on that. He was so unprepared. Knives were not the right size for what we had to cut or chop. We were shown one small step of the recipe at a time waiting for next step all the time. In other cooking classes the chef would show you the whole recipe first and then you’d replicate and the chef would go around the class. The stove were not great and far from working station. I’d expect stove you could go around like master chef. Just wrong set up. The chef also did pre cooked stuff for us so we did not do some of the cooking it was already done for us. He also used one oven for all the stuff that we chopped, people cutting veggies different sizes. We didn’t use the oven. He did. Food was blend especially that mix with lentils and beetroot. We did roasted veggies which is really easy. For $145 it’s a rip off. For only few pieces of veggies and a tiny glass of wine to swallow the pill. The whole thing dragged along for so long. And quite boring. One couple left and did not stay and ate the food. I’d def not go back.

Today we had the pleasure of participating in a Cooking School with our Flavourista company. Chef Adelene, you are incredible. Your expertise, teaching skills & presentation are wonderful. We so appreciated you sharing your foodie techniques & presenting all those exquisite recipes with our new Flavourista products. Just returned from a Moroccan cooking class with my husband and another delightful lady. It was really good, better value and quality than others we have tried , even in Italy. Kevin, the gorgeous, newly-married Irish chef was knowledgeable, really informative and friendly. We prepared enough sumptuous food for both lunch (accompanied by wine!) and takeaway for at least one more generous meal. Highly recommended... just hope more Sunday, day classes can be added, and we'll all be there. And a big shout-out to Ash, cleaning up after us with a smile!
