Google MapsI’ve been going to Making Strides since sustaining a spinal cord injury in 2020, which is honestly surprising considering I hate exercise and have the coordination of a newborn giraffe. I even drive up from the Sunshine Coast weekly, which probably says everything on its own. The team genuinely understand spinal cord injuries and actually take the time to tailor everything to you. They somehow manage to push you without making you feel like you’re being tortured, which is an impressive skill in itself. One of the biggest things for me has been gait training. They’ve got a body weight support system and long track setup for you to get your facilitated daily steps in. The vibe is what really sets it apart. It’s serious, but at the same time feels like a rehab exercise party. The staff are not just knowledgeable and patient, they somehow turn into your mates along the way. They make sessions enjoyable, even when I’m seconds away from crying because I hate the ski erg. If you’re looking for spinal cord injury rehab or any neurological rehab, I honestly wouldn’t go anywhere else.
