All receptionists are rude and don’t care to help. Whether you’re elderly and can’t book on your phone or just having troubles in general. They don’t care to answer phones, ever. Even when the automated machine says there’s 0 callers ahead of me. I’ve been on hold for 30 minutes alone just to cancel an appointment. Dr. Blackbeard is also incredibly rude and doesn’t care for patience and she should. She’s very dismissive and when I told her about my last visit with her she kept telling me it wasn’t her, I showed her name on my prescription bottle and gave her the entire run down of our last visit. She scoffed and told me to go back to the other doctor I saw prior to her. I was feeling asthmatic and sick and the whole time I was waiting in the waiting room the receptionists didn’t bother telling me I needed a mask until dr. Blackbeard told me she would not help me unless I wore a mask and all the receptionists laughed and gave me a weak apology.
The new sign in is a bit tricky for me every time as I am not technologically savvy. However it. Optimized the sign in experience. Dr Blackbeard is phenomenal. Straight forward and exceptionally good. Will continue to take my kids here. Every physician is great. Saw one for myself and they listened to my concerns and sure enough I was correct in my diagnosis. Very efficient and practical knowledge. Cannot express enough how amazing this clinic is. Wait times are good and you will be seen within 20 mins of check in, if not sooner.
I initially gave this clinic a 5-star review, but my recent experiences have forced me to change it to 1 star. I’ve been a patient here for a while without issues until I started seeing Dr. Fahim. First, when I was dealing with heart issues, Dr. Fahim assured me he would refer me to a cardiologist. After waiting for weeks, I discovered he never sent the referral, leaving me in limbo with no follow-up care. Second, I needed a medical note to extend my Employment Insurance (EI) benefits. During my appointment, Dr. Fahim handed me the form and left the room. I assumed it was completed correctly and submitted it to Service Canada. However, I later learned the form was missing two critical sections, rendering it invalid. I paid $42 for this service while financially strained and supporting three children, only to find out the form was useless. This mistake delayed my EI payments significantly. To resolve this, I booked another appointment three days later through the clinic’s online system for 1:30 PM. I’ve booked appointments online many times without issue, and the website confirmed the appointment, even allowing me to add it to my Google Calendar. However, when I arrived and signed in, the system flagged me as late. Confused, I approached the receptionist, who informed me that if a chosen time slot is unavailable, the clinic changes the appointment and sends a text notification. I received a text, which I assumed was a standard confirmation, as I’ve never had an appointment time changed before. When I politely asked if I could still be seen that day—explaining my urgent need for the corrected form due to financial hardship—the receptionist, who has a reputation for being abrasive based on other reviews, refused. She bluntly informed me that I owed a $100 no-show fee. I tried to explain the miscommunication, but she dismissed me, saying, “We’re all adults here,” and insisted it was my responsibility to check the text. Instead of offering a solution, she shut down the conversation, stating, “I’m not going to argue with you.” This was highly unprofessional and echoed complaints I’ve seen in other reviews about this same receptionist. I pointed out that I’ve never had a doctor’s office change an appointment time without clear communication. The text message asked me to press 1 to confirm or 2 to cancel, but I didn’t respond, assuming the appointment was set as booked. If the appointment wasn’t confirmed, why wasn’t I contacted to clarify? A simple phone call could have prevented this confusion. As a result, I’m out $42 for an incomplete form, still without the corrected document, and now facing a $100 no-show fee. This clinic’s lack of professionalism, poor communication, and apparent disregard for patients’ financial and medical needs are unacceptable. I strongly advise others to avoid this office, as their priority seems to be money over patient care. *Notice to the Clinic: Due to the serious nature of these issues, including the failure to provide a proper referral, an incomplete medical form, and unprofessional staff behavior, I will be filing a formal complaint with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. I hope this prompts the clinic to address these systemic problems and improve patient care.
