While most of the healthcare workers here are amazing, a small population of doctors have repeatedly failed at providing holistic care, and seem to make up their mind long before even seeing patients; I begin to lose confidence in this hospitals doctors when they begin recommending to ‘just go through the private system, because the plastics here would essentially botch your surgery, not that the surgery is important or anything’

I had an unexpected stay at UHG recently and I can’t speak highly enough of the care I received at all times. The female emergency doctor whose name I can’t think of was just so on the ball and lovely in trying to help me remain calm. The nurses, doctors, anaesthetists, surgeons and support staff all amazing. Thank you so much for your care. You all do an amazing job and I don’t think we realise how lucky we are to have a free health system.

Having recently moved from Sydney and experiencing majority of the hospitals there, when I write reviews for hospitals they’re usually not good ones. Having dealt with chronic pain for several years now, it’s often when I present to hospital that I’m not taken seriously and usually sent out the door with painkillers, if anything. Safe to say I can break that streak of bad experiences with Geelong Hospital. I was seen to in ED in record time only being there for closer to 2-3 hours even though it was quite busy before being admitted to short stay. Doctors have been incredibly thorough and compassionate, this is the first time since my injuries that my concerns and symptoms have genuinely been listened to and doctors were very determined to help me get answers. The nurses and wardsmen who have taken care of me so far have been incredibly kind, friendly and always willing to help, it’s made what has been a really hard few days much more bearable. So grateful to the Barwon Health team for their commitment to healthcare and the wellbeing of their patients. Genuinely a fantastic hospital.

I cannot express my gratitude enough to Geelong University Hospital for my stay from 10/2/26 - 17/2/26 after a motorcycle mishap. From the doctors & nurses in casualty to the plastic surgeons, social workers and the wonderful, wonderful nurses on the Patricia Heath Ward 5. At 56yrs old, I had the best treatment I have ever received at a hospital in Australia. These beautiful people went above & beyond to care for me and to make sure my stay was more than comfortable. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. Xx

Geelong Hosital never disappoints in terms of service and facilities albeit you are likely here for unhappy reasons. I have been coming here since the 1980s. Visitor. Patient. I was here today visiting a friend in ICU. Man, she is not doing well. The tech she was plugged into was many and amazing. Nurse was tip-top, saintly patience. And yet, while I was out in the foyer waiting for my friend's husband to get the daily debrief, there was a Code Grey followed by a Code Black. On my way out, saw a security guard with an anti-stabbing vest. Incredible. Lotta signs about asking for a pay rise. I support that. Food in cafe is pretty decent. 3rd floor.
