It was my first experience ever attending the Northern hospital this weekend and despite the stories that I have heard I have to say the care my daughter received was second to none. Far better than any other hospitals I’ve attended for children. My daughter was seen straight away and had a bed all with an hour and a half turnover time. The ED staff were fantastic. However I do agree that the dept would benefit from an upgrade too! We went straight to ward 2 children’s ward where again the nursing staff all went out of their way to make the experience as pleasant as could be given the circumstances (shout out to Allen!). Also shout out to Wes the dr who made me feel comfortable throughout, explained everything so clearly and validated my concerns- something that was not considered in other hospitals resulting in a worse outcome for my daughter. Really appreciated everything that was done for my daughter- thanks Northern!

I was admitted to Northern hospital maternity ward due to preeclampsia and my baby was in Nursery ward for a month . I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the outstanding care and service provided by the midwives, doctors and all the staffs . From the moment I arrived, I was treated with kindness, professionalism, and respect. The doctors, nurses, and support staff demonstrated exceptional dedication and compassion, making a difficult time much more comfortable.

Was brought to the Northern Hospital via an ambulance last night with extremely severe abdominal pain, vomiting & excessive sweating and shaking. The paramedics left me alone in a random hallway without any bay, bed or room with only one nurse who even after saying I was in unbearable pain ignored me multiple times and said I needed to be patient. After almost an hour that same nurse finally came over she gave me nausea medication to place under my tongue and after I explained my mouth was completely dry she refused to allow me any water on multiple occasions even though i had been cleared for water. My partner was waiting to be let in to see me and after having waited for such a long time and asked the front desk if I was ready to have visitors, they had explained that the hospital thought I was waiting with him & didn’t know where I was. Only after he persisted on them finding me did an ER nurse finally find me and put me in an emergency bay. I was ignored by staff, left alone with extreme pain and denied care & was not kept track of as a patient. I was released late today with no diagnosis or reasoning for the pain. It was a disgusting experience and clearly many of the staff in emergency do not care about patients wellbeing and think it’s appropriate to deny patients of the care they need. The duty of care was not upheld and the negligence I had experienced was abhorrent. I will say that the short stay experience after all this was wonderful and the doctors and nurses were very attentive but that does not excuse the treatment I was given in emergency.

I would like to sincerely thank the wonderful team at Northern Hospital for the care they gave to my mum. She arrived by ambulance to the Emergency Department during a very serious medical situation. She was first admitted to Ward 4 and later transferred to Ward 3 under palliative care. Throughout her stay, the medical team worked incredibly hard for her. A special thank you to Dr Juliet and Jasminder Singh from the Palliative Care Ward for their compassionate care and support. They were kind, understanding, and took the time to explain everything clearly to our family. The nurses treated my mum with dignity and respect at all times. During such a difficult and emotional time, the staff showed genuine care and empathy. We are truly grateful for everything they did for our mum

I just wanted to take the opportunity to say a big thank you to the team at Northern Hospital for all their support in delivering our baby boy on Friday, with a particular shout out to midwives Paige and Alyssa and student wife Milly. And a big shout out to Bree who assisted us when we were moved into our room from the birthing suite. Your professionalism, support and words of encouragement were such a huge help and made for such a positive birthing experience. We are so immensely grateful and credit our very positive experience to you. Thank you so so much for everything ❤️ I also wanted to say how amazing Laura is for coming in to say hello after carrying out my stretch and sweep the day before, both while I was in labour and then again after baby boy was born. You absolutely didn’t have to take the time to do that and you did anyway and you were so genuinely friendly and interested in how I was going and it meant so much to us. Thank you to these most amazing women and to the rest of the staff at the Northern Hospital for giving us such a positive experience having our baby boy.
