We were really skeptical when we were sent to the Northern emergency room, given what we’d heard. Still, from the moment my partner and I were admitted, we were given the utmost care and comfort, we were reassured, and the lovely team at short stay ran every test to ensure my partner was ok. They were careful, had great attention to detail, were kind and funny, and made what is always going to be a scary experience calmer and better. I am so grateful for healthcare workers like those we had.

The Northern Hospital often gets a bad reputation, but I wanted to share a positive experience from yesterday evening/this early morning. From triage at the front desk to the wonderful staff who cared for me, everyone was kind, compassionate and professional. A special thank you to Mel, the nurse who looked after me, and Kyla, one of the cleaners, whose kindness of brining me warm blankets didn’t go unnoticed. People often hear about the bad, but rarely the good. So here’s some positivity. Thank you to everyone working so hard, you made a difficult day so much easier, and I’m truly grateful.

I had a horrible experience with the triage staff at the TRIAGE Emergency Department AROUND 13:00 on 01/02/2026. The staff member was extremely rude and condescending towards both me and my boyfriend. I did not get her name, but she was Asian and had very thick eyelashes. I hope the hospital takes this review seriously and addresses this staff member’s behaviour, as no patient should be treated this way in an emergency department We stood in front of the triage desk for 5–6 minutes, waiting while she continued chatting with her co-worker. She clearly saw us waiting but kept talking instead of attending to patients. This is an emergency department, and I don’t think it’s appropriate to ignore patients who are clearly waiting for help. When we finally approached, my boyfriend nicely explained my situation — I had a CARBUNCLE located right under my eyebrow and very close to my eye, which should be considered serious. Her immediate response was, “It’s NOT A EMERGENCY . You can just go to a GP and they can do it for you.” She then DISMISSED it as just a PIMPLE and asked me have I been touched it as if It was my fault to make pimple bigger and worse .My boyfriend explained that it had been there for several days and was getting worse, but she simply repeated that I should go to a GP to have it drained. The issue is not only that she dismissed our concern, but she also MISDIAGNOSED my health/ skin issues . She insisted it was just a pimple and sent us away. If I had listened to her advice and ignored it, this could have become much more serious. We had already tried to book appointments with different GPs, but none were available that day or even the next day, which is why we came to the hospital as a LAST RESORT. Despite this, she still turned us away without proper assessment.

We had a fantastic experience tonight. Super professional at emergency. Looked after my daughter, very prompt! Staff were fantastic. Then through to short stay and had Max as her Nurse & Maya as her doctor absolutely thorough & supportive. Could not be happier! Looked after very well! Great job TEAM!

We had a very positive experience at Northern Hospital during my dad’s 3-week stay. The nurses were extremely efficient, kind, helpful and showed so much empathy throughout his treatment. They were dedicated and always attentive to his needs, which made a very stressful time much easier for our family. The doctors were also excellent. Whenever we needed explanations or had concerns about my dad’s condition, they took the time to come and speak with us clearly and patiently. We always felt informed and reassured. Knowing my dad was receiving such good care made us feel very safe and supported. Overall, we are extremely satisfied and truly grateful to all the staff for their dedication and compassion. Thank you so much to all the nurses, staffs and doctors at the hospital. You are appreciated
